Week 5: No Game This Week, but Thoughts Nonetheless – Part 1

I’m safely planted in Alamo Saturday morning, fully rested after not covering a game last night.

But I did follow the goings on.

Now we all know I’m from the Pahranagat Valley, but I’m not going to over-praise them. I’m objective and fair in who I cover. In fact, I haven’t even been to an Alamo game yet. That may change soon, as the Panthers are slated to play division rivals Mountain View and Calvary Chapel in October. (I haven’t seen Calvary yet, and I’ve heard good things.)

That being said, I’ve gotta give the Panthers their due. After losing key players from last year, they are still the model team in the 1A.

A lot of that is thanks to Ken Higbee and his coaching staff. Whenever I hear that Alamo football is going to be tested against a quality opponent, I expect what happened last night at Carlin to happen. It’s not a fluke.

Unless the Panthers are woefully outmatched, and even if they are, Higbee will have his players extremely prepared. They’ll have a well thought out game plan and will execute it, which is what I suspect happened last night.

I’m not giving them the title prematurely. They still have plenty of tests against good teams. But rest assured Higbee is saying the same thing to his players and will have them prepared.

    Hey Rowley,

How is it that if you are from Pahranagat Valley why you and others not named continue to call us Alamo. I know that Pahranagat Valley High School is located in Alamo, Nevada. I know we are the lower part of Lincoln County School District where we get the hind teet. There are lots of us from Ash Springs, Crystal Springs, infamous Rachel and Hiko that drive hours to Pahranagat Valley HS. We are a little sick of hearing about Alamo, Alamo, Alamo. Hey Rowley share the love put in a little Hiko.

  • Hey Rowley,

Why don’t you change that Alamo tag cloud to Pahranagat Valley?

I’m from Alamo, but I can totally relate with Rowley. He is very busy writing these articles and probably wants to save some time. Also, most casual viewers know what Alamo is rather than Pahranagat Valley. Lastly, I know a lot of people that have moved from Hiko who when asked say they are from Alamo, so as not to cause confusion. Please, give the poor man a break.
